JOB SUMMARY
This position primarily acts as a public representative of Goodwill's mission, and provide superior customer service to patrons at Goodwill stores. Under the direction of the Store leadership, the Retail Associate, maintains a clean, safe and pleasant work environment, and works in an accurate and efficient manner to reduce waste, improve sales and reduce expenses.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work to improve delivery of customer service in the store and processes and practices that will continually enhance the shopping experience
- Contribute to effective merchandising of assigned areas
- Participate in all training activities to acquire skills on the job
- Learn and apply company policies, procedures and guidelines to complete assigned duties
- Assist in the visual presentation of the store as directed, including window displays, rack signing and sizing and accessorizing
- Accurately and efficiently runs the POS system; adhere to all cash handling guidelines and POS operating procedures
- Help reduce all elements of loss and shrinkage with special attention to deterring theft and reporting suspicious activity when appropriate
- Provide assistance in other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous retail and customer service experience preferred
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Read and write English proficiently, or have enrolled in and are on track to successfully complete an approved ESL program
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse group of individuals from a variety of educational, social and economic backgrounds
- Respects and has knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one’s own, able to work effectively with all
- Follow workplace quality and safety standards and contribute to a culture of safety
- Receptive to feedback, willing to learn and embrace continuous improvement
- Strive for high customer satisfaction, going out of the way to be helpful and pleasant
- Familiarity with or ability to gain proficiency with cashiering system

- Must be able to lift at minimum 15 lbs
- Must be able to stand on hard surfaces for an extended period of time
