Under general supervision from the Community Prosecutor and Assistant Community Prosecutor, provides direct assistance to individuals who are in a diversion or deferred prosecution program, or who are on probation, and their families, and assists them with understanding and working with the judicial system. Provides support and assistance in obtaining related services that may be needed to ensure they receive referrals for counseling, treatment services, etc. Acts as a case manager for Office of the Prosecutor cases involving deferred prosecution, pre-trial diversion, juvenile delinquency informal adjustment agreements (juvenile diversion), and adult and juvenile wellness court. This job class is treated as FLSA Exempt and is subject to working non-standard hours.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:
- Knowledge of Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and its resources and of American Indian culture and traditions.
- Knowledge of tribal justice system as it relates to charges and procedures, and confidentiality requirements, regarding possession of illegal drugs, substance use, and addiction.
- Knowledge of effective methods and techniques in working with individuals experiencing addiction, substance abuse, complex trauma, and other mental health needs, and their families.
- Knowledge and experience in law enforcement and the justice system and an understanding of dynamics of addiction.
- Knowledge of community development techniques and community based programming.
- Knowledge of information gathering, statistical reporting and maintenance of confidential data base.
- Knowledge of best practices in working with young offenders, and juveniles in particular.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with State, Federal, and local law enforcement groups, community groups, individuals and their families, as well as other partner departments, staff, and the public.
- Skill in operating a variety of office equipment, including personal computer, related software and data base data.
- Skill in operating case management systems, specifically JustWare and CMS.
- Skill in oral and written communication, as well as experience in public relations activities.
- Skill in working as an advocate with crime victims, defendants, and family members.
- Ability to make oral presentations to community groups and to organizations outside the SRPMIC.
- Ability to effectively manage a case load.
- Ability to deal with people during high-stress situations and maintain safety and security.
- Ability to listen, communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of people.
- Ability to provide thoughtful and thorough analysis.

- Ability to operate tape recorder, camera (video and still), and other tools routinely used in work of this nature.
- Ability to work non-standard work hours and to respond on short-notice on-call, as directed by supervisor.
- Education & Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Services, or closely related field, and 3-5 years of full time work experience with community-based addiction recovery assistance programs, social services, criminal justice, education, or related direct services is required. A Master's degree in Legal Studies or a related field is preferred.
- Preference given to candidates that meet the requirements who have work experience in Native American / Federal Indian Law.
- Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job will be considered.
- Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of an extensive background check and drug screening. May be required to work outside normal work hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
