Restaurant Hostess

Our casual, laid-back Italian Restaurant seeks a friendly, upbeat Hostess to work variable shifts, including weekends in a fast paced, high volume restaurant. The ideal candidate loves making small talk with customers. He or she should be willing to fill in as needed for bussers, food runners, servers and bartenders to keep up with busy shifts. Some back-of-house assistance might be needed, such as inspecting/cleaning areas and restocking products. Must follow strict health and safety procedures

Hostess Responsibilities

· Greet customers as soon as they walk through the door

· Provide patrons with accurate wait time estimates during busy periods

· Maintain a neat, organized front-of-house environment

· Seat guests and place table settings to ensure ideal speed of service

· Rotate seating between different sections to ensure even workloads for waitstaff

· Assist with opening/closing tasks and side work as needed

· Learn food and beverage menu to provide guest with accurate information

· Take to-go and pick-up orders

· Encourage upselling of orders for higher revenue

· Answer phones and schedule reservations

Hostess Qualifications and Skills

· 16+ years or older

· Energetic, Friendly, Well Spoken

· High school diploma/GED preferred

· Flexible schedule; weekdays, evening shifts, weekends, and holidays

· 1+ years customer service experience, preferably in the hospitality industry

· Basic Math for handlining money

· Ability to stand and walk for 8+ hours of time plus overtime if needed

· Advanced time management experience

· Ability to multitask

· Ability to remain calm under pressure

· Thoroughness and attention to details

· Team player who’s proactive in looking for ways to help out other employees whenever needed

· Ability to obtain required permits and certifications for food and beverage

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $11.25 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
