Essential Duties:
- Responsible for supervision of resident?s care regarding respiratory.
- Need to be familiar with facility policies and procedures.
- Response to questions by nursing and family regarding ventilator technicality.
- Explain procedures and medications provided to the patients.
- Fosters self-respect and self-esteem in residents.
- Administers respiratory medications (nebulizers, oxygen, and MPI) as ordered.
- Observe and report a change of resident?s condition to nursing (licensed and DON) or resident?s physician.
- Perform suction via oral, endotracheal, and tracheal secretions.
- Change trach tube as skilled by physician?s order.
- Monitor resident?s respiratory status eg: breathing pattern, oxygenation, trach tube placement.
- Maintain patient on ventilator support, can change parameters to keep resident stable respiratory wise as ordered.
- Check ventilator?s alarm (external) before and during shift if functional.
- Cares for respiratory equipment.
- Change in respiratory supplies as ordered.
- Document ventilator setting, oxygen setting, and respiratory status of the resident.
