Position Summary
Sets up a variety of electromechanical respiration equipment to obtain data relative to functioning of patient needing such assistance, and to administer prescribed doses of medicinal gases and aerosolized drugs to patients with respiratory disorders.
Position Duties (not all inclusive)
- Reviews physician's request to determine requirements for tests and/or treatments.
- Assists medical nursing staff as requested, including introduction of respiratory care modalities.
- Demonstrates proficiency in: ventilator care, obtaining arterial blood gas samples and running samples, administering IPPB and hand held aerosol treatments, obtaining and administering medication, administering incentive spirometry, administering aerosol therapy, setting up all types of oxygen delivery appliances, basic breathing exercises, postural drainage techniques, emergency procedures for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, pulse oximetry.
