Job Description

Position Title: Respiratory Therapist

Position Reports To: Imaging Manager

Job Overview: Conducting, performing, and analyzing diagnostic and function tests to assess lung capacity and capability under the direction/supervision of the pulmonologist.

Minimum qualifications:

• A.S. degree or certificate of completion from an accredited 2-year college in Respiratory Therapy.
• Current license to practice respiratory therapy in North Carolina.
• Minimum of one-year experience.
• Ability to communicate written and orally.
• Ability to work independently making intelligent decisions.
• CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Inspect, clean, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently.
• Maintain needed inventory.
• Perform pulmonary function tests with DLCO and adjust equipment to obtain optimum results in therapy.
• Facilitate efficient clinical workflow.
• Administering inhalants per protocol.
• Ability to perform arterial blood gas analysis.
• Explain procedure to patients.
• Monitor patients’ physiological responses to therapy and consult with physician if adverse reactions occur.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Working Conditions: Outpatient clinic setting, lifting/moving patients may be necessary.
