MHA is hiring immediately for a Residential workers working with our youth in transition in a group home setting.
The Residential worker will perform a variety of duties including: teaching, counseling, assisting and supporting adolescents/young adults with psychiatric, developmental and/or social/behavioral challenges to maximize their independence through skill development maintain compliance with MHA, DCF and DEEC and Caring Together policies, procedures, and regulations. Utilize a trauma-informed approach to provide counseling, support, transportation and case management services for adolescents/young adults, engaging effectively with their families and other community providers. Facilitate psycho-educational and support groups to help adolescents/young adults and others develop social, emotional, and independent living skills. Transition Specialists may serve as a planning partner with the youth, and assist the youth in identifying and making necessary connections for him/her to make progress towards their goals. Perform responsibilities professionally, in collaboration with other team members in accordance with MHA’s Core Values (Respect, Integrity, and Compassion), policies, practices, program funding and applicable regulatory agency guidelines.
- The Residential Worker must have
Valid driver’s license, sufficient automobile insurance, acceptable driving record, and a safe reliable vehicle during working hours.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, prioritize tasks, take initiative, follow through, and work cooperatively as a member of a team.
- Good oral, written, computer, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to the changing needs of the program participants.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, caring, and compassion.
- Using strong problem-solving skills, must be able to make solid/safe decisions quickly.
The Residential Workers Required Education and Experience
- Professional experience working with youth and young adults is preferred.
Must be at least twenty-one years old.
