Residential Unit Coordinator

Role and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate adherence to state practice acts and codes of ethical conducts in all spheres of residential practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and adherence to HIPAA policy and regulations.
  • Serve as a leader and role model of:
  • Professionalism
  • Boundary establishment with residents and coworkers who serve below them in the agency.
  • Ensuring rationally detached and productive interactions with colleagues and residents.
  • Accountability to job duties that incorporate disciplinary actions per Human Resources processes and recommendations
  • Has mastered and continues to demonstrate the skills of a Residential Facilitator, Shift Supervisor and Direct Care Provider.
  • Steps in to serve the functions of the Residential Facilitator, as directed by the Residential Supervisor on an as needed basis.
  • Demonstrates willingness and excellence in serving the role of a Shift Supervisor or Direct Care Providers when needed by the unit.
  • Duties for Residents:
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to resident satisfaction and engagement. Demonstrates skillful de-escalation void of reinforcing maladaptive behaviors.
  • Ensure Residential Units run at optimum and required staffing capacity.
  • Ensures that resident’s level of supervision is only changed through clinical processes and approval by the clinical team, except in the event of after-hours emergencies where management on call may make temporary changes.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to resident engagement and de-escalation, as necessary.
  • Ensure the maintenance of a safe and hygienic living environment for residents on the unit.
  • Maintain resident funds records per State of Michigan AFC guidelines.
  • Ensure resident attendance to clinical, nursing, and external appointments
  • Schedule transportation for resident appointments and recreational outings
  • Plans for the upcoming month and ensures delivery of appropriate outing and community access opportunities for residents on the unit.
  • Delivers schedules for the upcoming week to each resident on the unit, from the internal EMR by Friday before leaving campus.
  • Conduct resident council on a biweekly basis, on the same day and time, to gather input for unit issues, rec planning, etc.
  • Engage in resident focused interactions that are rationally detached, professional and compliant with corporate, AFC licensing, CARF standards and CMH guidelines.
  • Attend and participate in resident care meetings, as requested / assigned.
  • Implement changes to resident’s IPOS/clinical/medical plan of care only as trained and directed by the resident’s Clinical Case Manager, Nurse, and other clinical staff.
  • Completes data mechanisms and incident reporting processes as needed and trained by the clinical / medical team.
  • Has passed the medication administration class and proctored test leading to the ability to pass medications to residents per instructions on the Medication Administration Record.
  • Assist the Residential Supervisor with maintaining and delivering up-to-date documentation that allows for accurate capturing of services rendered and timely billing of residential services.
  • Duties for Direct Care Professionals and Shift Supervisors:
    • Completes performance appraisals for Direct Care Providers and gains approval for delivery from the Residential Supervisor.
    • Ensures that the company handbook is followed by Direct Care Professionals.
    • Ensures training of new Direct Care Professionals to ensure thorough orientation.
    • As directed by the Residential Supervisor, Human Resources or Leadership, investigates and participates in resolution of disciplinary issues. Implements corrective action and performance improvement plans with Direct Care Professionals once approved by Human Resources.
    • Maintain ongoing in-services and checklists to keep Direct Care Professionals current with new procedures and ongoing required trainings.
  • Documentation:
    • Works with the Residential Facilitator to ensure presentation of accurate completion of PCCLS, LOS and other documents required for prompt residential billing. Delivers those documents in a timely fashion that is consistent with company expectations delineated by the RCM department.
  • On-Call Systems:
  • Participate in facility-wide on-call systems as assigned.
  • Report significant issues to the appropriate medical, clinical, and higher management team members on call at the same time.
  • Facilitate resolution of issues as directed by medical, clinical, and higher management team members on call at the same time.
  • All other related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • 1+ years of management experience 
  •  2+ years of residential experience 
Preferred Skills
  •  Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Management 
  • Commitment to professional boundaries.
  • Strong executive functioning skills.
