The Children's Home is looking for Residential Child Care Workers- 1st and 2nd shift, to join our team in supporting a short term, 8 bed children's program in the Penfield area of Rochester!!
In a residential setting, Child Care Workers provide for the safety and well being of the children in care by supervision of their whereabouts, attention to their needs and remembrance of their unique life situations. Child Care Workers are a positive role model for the youth as a high performing team member; communicate with other staff, children, and their families and outside personnel in a professional, courteous and respectful manner at all time.
**$500 sign on bonus paid out after 6 months of successful service for those hired with at least 1 year previous experience working in child welfare/juvenile justice**
Job Duties:
- Timely and effectively identify and communicate all behavioral, emotional and medical needs. Confer regularly with the unit supervisor, social worker and education staff as needed on each child in care.
- Provide for growth and development of each child in care through instructing, counseling and directing them in matters of personal conduct, hygiene, appearance, social skills, school, routines and work habits.
- Foster the social, vocational and cultural needs and interests of each child in planning of activities, individual and group.
- Provide for the recreational needs and leisure time activities of children by planning, supervising and participating in activities both within and away from the unit setting.
- Be responsible for the safety and security of the unit and office areas. Safeguard confidential information, share and utilize as needed only.
- Develop therapeutic relationships with children and their families responsive to their needs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School diploma required, degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Positive work and life experience will be considered.
- Good verbal and written communication skills required. Must be creative and able to perform duties under general supervision.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task required.
- A valid driver's license that meets insurance liability requirements throughout employment strongly preferred
- Able to satisfactorily complete all requirements of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, CPR/First Aide and AED.
The Child Care Workersmust be able and willing to work flexible schedules and across multiple programs.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
