Responsibilities:

-Completes all necessary intake paperwork and accurately keypunches the information into HMIS
database system.
-Ensures that all rooms are in proper order before arrival of residents; checks fire equipment and ensures
proper working order.
-Distributes towels, linens, and personal hygiene items; secures and provides clients access to medications
as required.
-Monitors the activities of the residents ensuring safety and compliance with house rules; checks the
security of all windows and doors; monitors cameras and makes periodic rounds of entire facility; records
any unique situations occurring on assigned shift.
-Responds to emergencies in a calm manner and initiates appropriate corrective action in accordance with
established policies and procedures, in an effort to instruct and develop and not in an effort to punish.
-Opens and closes the house doors at designated hours of operation.
-Assigns housekeeping and other tasks to residents; ensures that residents perform assigned house duties in
the proper manner; ensures compliance with house rules. Addresses shortcomings in an effort to develop
skill set, not in an effort to punish.
-Conducts campus security checks as assigned, taking responsive action if required and logging details of completing the same bullet point notes of pertinent activity.
-Conducts breath alcohol checks on all residents entering the shelter facility and thoroughly inspects all
property being brought into the facility to ensure compliance with house rules.
-Answers telephone and responds to questions regarding the housing operations.
-Wakes up clients at designated time and instructs them to collect their sheets; ensures that all residents are
out of the housing facility by the designated time.
-Issues meal tickets for residents of the emergency shelter.
-Conducts oneself as a representative of The Salvation Army in the tone used, patience extended and encouragement offered to those we serve.
-Other Responsibilities:
-Collects and washes all dirty towels and sheets.
-Cleans, sweeps, and mops the lobby, hall and office areas; empties trash cans and replaces trash liners.
-Performs other related work as required.

Working Conditions:
-Work is performed in a transient lodge environment where there may be physical discomforts associated
with temperature variations, odors, violence, noise, disease, and/or dust under mildly unsafe and
uncomfortable conditions.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications Required:
-Education and Experience:
-High school diploma or G.E.D.
and
-one year experience performing security or social service work preferred,
or
-any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and
abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
-CPR and First Aid Certification.
-Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
-Knowledge of basic record keeping practices and procedures.
-Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior.
-Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors.
-Ability to extend grace in the face of rebellion without becoming emotionally upset.
-Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while staying within established policy and
procedural boundaries.
-Mental and Physical Abilities:
-Ability to meet attendance requirements.
-Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
-Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating
the proper corrective action.
-Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of
travel is usually within the same building.
-Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light
objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
