POSITION SUMMARY:
The Resident Escort provides basic patient care under the direct supervision of the nursing staff. In this role, the Resident Escort will assist with maintaining a safe resident transport to and from and within the Facility. This position requires providing service in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individuals served and will provide assistants to the CNAs with resident care.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Some experience in institutional cooking.
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation and hygienic methods.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.

• Passing hydration fluids to residents
• Responding to call lights
• Assisting the certified CNAs with resident care.
• Assists with lifting and moving residents for transfer and transport.
• Confirms resident readiness for transport and need for appropriate equipment and ensures that equipment is ready and available.
• Assists residents, whether ambulatory or non-ambulatory.
• Assists residents in designated smoking areas with distribution, lighting, and extinguishing cigarettes (in proper cigarette receptacles).
• Reports any changes in resident status/condition during transport.
• Removes and reports defective equipment to supervisor.
• Cleans, maintains and operates transport equipment and operates elevators to move or escort residents to and from various hospitals/doctor’s office, as directed, following established operating policies and procedures.
• Receives formal instruction/direction upon pick-up and provides formal hand-off report at destination, when not required to stay with resident.
• Assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all residents, visitors and fellow employees.
• Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner and identifies and can be asked to correct unsafe work conditions with management oversight.
• Complies with all HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Attend in-service and training programs as designated.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Other Requirements:
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be enrolled in a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant program at the time of hire in accordance with the laws of this state.
