WHO YOU ARE

We are looking for a talented Resident Engineer to join our Construction Management team. The role of Resident Engineer will include multiple disciplines that occur concurrently but are primarily focused on infrastructure improvement. In this position, you may have full supervisory responsibilities for Inspectors and lower level Engineers. The ideal candidate will have experience with the public sector in overall project team selection, site selection and value judgment decision making. Experience renovating various types of spaces, buildout of additional retail and dining shell spaces, and other necessary improvements to structures, mechanical, electrical, and other building systems, and facilities a big PLUS. The ideal candidate will have experience with Job Order Contracting (JOC), GCCM and Design Build alternative delivery methods in addition to standard Design Bid Build work.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

• BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years of project and construction management experience.
• Experience with progressive design-build, GC/CM or other alternate delivery methods.
• Experience with public clients/sector.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
• Experience with web-based project management tools.
• Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) or other scheduling software.
• Demonstrated experience in management of professional staff.
• Must have an acceptable driving record.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

• 3 years’ experience in management of professional staff preferred.
• Experience in project management of multiple, overlapping, and coordinated projects preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of green and sustainable building practices, LEED™ Accredited Professional a plus.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Overall accountability for the planning, design, permitting, construction, and turnover of construction projects.
• Deliver projects on time, on budget, and to mutually agreed expectations.
• Serve as principal point of contact (designated as “Engineer” in contracts) for all construction issues related to assigned major construction projects that range from $300K to over $200M.
• Maintain knowledge of the contractual service requirements between the Client, General Contractor, Designers, and Consultants.
• Organize and lead the weekly progress meeting. Work with the Office Engineer to provide weekly progress meeting notes to the ST VC, ST PM and Construction Managers.
• Review and approve daily inspection reports.
• Maintain knowledge of the contractual service commitments between OAC and the Client.
• Lead or assist with creation and validation of pro-forma documentation (as appropriate).
• Lead or provide support in site selection analysis and decision making.
• Facilitate involvement of the project’s key stakeholders at appropriate levels and times.
• Develop, coordinate, and facilitate hand-off the facility to client’s operations personnel.
• Plan, schedule, assign and direct the work of assistant Resident Engineers, construction coordinators or construction inspectors to ensure the smooth and coordinated accomplishment of projects.
• Monitor performance of self, individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
• Develop or advise on development of warranty strategies.
• Lead or assist with development and management of overall project budget, as appropriate to meet client requirements.
• Guide design development and construction through the applicable funding requirements and government processes at Federal, State and Local levels.
• Guide design development through applicable sustainability reviews or building certification preparations to meet project/client requirements.
• Support client’s project administrative needs as appropriate.
• Contribute and own the development of program processes and tools that facilitate consistency and quality execution across the project/program.
• Drive to various job sites/offices.
