Resident Counselors Job Description:
Recruiting Solutions is currently seeking Resident Counselors in Greenville for $17! This individual will be responsible for working directly with minors under the supervision of clinically trained staff with individuals under the age of 18.
Resident Counselors are responsible for the supervision and management of adolescents within a therapeutic childcare setting. The individual will serve as a positive role model while assisting in daily activities. Employees must be willing to participate in a week-long training period that will provide them with the resources they need to be successful in this role.
Resident Counselors will need to listen actively and empathize with those in their care while also maintaining boundaries set forth by company policies and procedures.
Resident Counselors Responsibilities
· Assist in the coordination of therapeutic activities, and oversee the completion of resident activities including, but not limited to; hygiene related activities, chores, journalizing, homework, or other clinical assignments
· Maintain an awareness of the whereabouts of all residents under their care by providing constant supervision, regular rounds and headcount checks throughout shift
· Monitor resident behavior and provide feedback as outlined in the resident’s treatment plan to other staff members (i.e. next shift, counselor, case manager, etc.)
· Recognize behaviors that need to be escalated to the Team Leader and/or Staff-In Charge; to include that may disrupt the social environment of the residence, or that could indicate a potential problem for the resident
· Help residents with everyday living activities while modeling positive behavior
· Ensure a safe environment by implementing policies and procedures
· Document all relevant information in accordance with program standards
· Observe youth in their routine to document behaviors
· Demonstrate patience, compassion and understanding in all interactions with residents, peers, and leadership
· Other duties as assigned
Resident Counselors Requirements
· Have the ability to maintain composure in difficult situations
· Reflect a strong sense of judgement and morals
· Understand the need for confidentiality and privacy; be responsive to cultural differences
· Strong communication and detailed documentation skills are required
· Capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously
· Show a strong sense of commitment to do whatever it takes for the youth in their care
· Experience working with at-risk youth preferred but not required
· Experience working in an environment with HIPAA preferred but not required
· High school degree or GED is required
