JOB TITLE: Resident Coordinator - Stepping Stones (Part-Time)

REPORTS TO: Director of Interim Housing

SCHEDULE: Saturday-Sunday, (3:30pm - 11:30pm)

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA

STATUS: Full-time, 40 hrs/wk, Non-Exempt

CELL PHONE: Reimbursement for use

SALARY RANGE: $21.00 - $22.00/hr

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a team member of the Podshare Housing program, the Resident Coordinator provides essential services and support to transitional age youth (TAY) who live in our brand new collaborative partnership with Podshare to create a unique interim housing program. This position is assigned to the Hollywood Podshare site and monitors site safety and youth services. The Resident Coordinator is responsible for general oversight of the property, cleanliness, safety, and maintenance. Additionally, the Resident Coordinator builds rapport with youth, provides advocacy, coordinates activities/workshops/events, and provides crisis intervention and conflict management. The Resident Coordinator works closely with their team and other SPY programs to provide the best services to our youth. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the various factors that contribute to youth experiencing homelessness. Specific knowledge or experience related to youth pregnancy and parenting is ideal.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Build relationships with youth from a trauma-informed and harm-reduction perspective
  • Daily house and property inspection to maintain curb appeal and resident safety
  • Maintain adequate inventory and storage of program supplies, including snacks, materials for activities, cleaning supplies, laundry soaps, office supplies, etc.
  • Assist with program intakes and exits, including preparing intake packets, files, the youth’s living space, and supporting
  • Coordinate and ensure meal support in the program (e.g. food pantry donations)
  • Report and document incidents and service requests in a timely manner
  • Resolve and mediate issues, and enforce house rules
  • Provide crisis management, conflict resolution, and restorative consequences
  • Coordinate volunteers for programming and event needs
  • Create and maintain a list of resources and other relevant information in the community
  • Coordinate and implement life skills trainings, workshops, activities, events, and programming led by staff, community partners or volunteers.
  • Assist in the preparation of required program reports
  • Track outcomes, data entry, and assessments as required
  • Drive SPY vehicles to transport residents to services and community activities
  • Additional ad-hoc tasks as required
  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization
Requirements:

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field preferred.
  • Related work or lived experience will be strongly considered in place of or in addition to a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 1-2 years of experience providing direct services to high-risk transitional age youth
  • Working knowledge of child and adolescent social, emotional, and cognitive development, trauma informed care, and harm reduction service models
  • Work within legal and ethical guidelines
  • Flexibility with schedule based on program needs
  • Commitment and passion for the mission, vision, values and culture of SPY
  • A self-starter who is prepared to drive innovative solutions
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • An ability to work in a fast paced environment that requires effective collaboration
  • A valid California driver’s license, auto insurance, and the ability to transport youth
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive
  • Cultural humility

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors.
  • Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary- up to 15-20 pounds at times.


SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

Mandated Reporting Requirements: The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.


COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements: Effective August 9, 2021, the State Health Officer has mandated that all workers, paid or unpaid, in homeless services organizations must provide proof of vaccination. If eligible for a booster shot, proof of booster is also required. If not fully vaccinated, weekly COVID-19 testing is necessary depending on the program. Driver Positions:

Applicants are required to provide a copy of their driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles, along with a copy of their valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Job offers are contingent upon a satisfactory driving record. Examples of an unsatisfactory driving record include:

  • Suspended or revoked license
  • Three or more moving violations in the past 36 months
  • Any violations, including drugs, alcohol, controlled substances, within the past 24 months
  • Reckless driving, including hit and runs, within the past 24 months
  • At fault accidents, resulting in fatality or serious injury, within the past 5 years

NOTE: All staff members will be considered introductory employees for the first three months of employment and will not be considered regular employees until the conclusion of this period. Employees who fail to demonstrate the expected commitment, performance and attitude may be terminated at any time during the introductory period. However, completion of the introductory period does not change or alter the “at-will” employment status.
