About the Opportunity
The Learning and Development Specialist will join the newly formed Research Training Programs team in the Division of Research. Research Training Programs provides live training workshops and self-directed learning resources to help guide researchers and research staff to effectively navigate the ever growing and complex demands of research. The Research Training Programs team works closely within the Division of Research in areas of Sponsored Projects, Research Integrity, and Research Administration Information Systems and other University partners in General Counsel, Talent Development, and other critical hubs throughout the research enterprise.
The Learning and Development Specialist will support, participate, and conduct many aspects of the learning and development lifecycle for programming within Research Training.
Responsibilities
In this role, the Learning and Development Specialist will manage the departmental learning management system (LMS), create digital learning solutions, provide technical production in virtual/In-person classrooms, create surveys, manage data and reporting, and manage class logistics.
The incumbent will act as the primary department LMS administrator and create a Research Training catalog. The Learning and Development Specialist will develop methods and standards of how Research Training is posted, organized, and standardized to ease the process for faculty and staff to engage with learning. The role of Department LMS administrator will include building class registrations, uploading learning items, assigning, tracking, and reporting completions, and other LMS activities. The incumbent will be responsible for keeping track of materials and ensuring learning is organized, up to date, and easy to navigate for learners.
The incumbent will create learning evaluation surveys, track survey completion, and generate data reports. They will make suggestions to improve the learning experience from the variety of informal and formal inputs they receive from learners.
Additionally, the person in this role will build eLearning modules, handouts/job aids, and other digital learning solutions to support both standalone lessons and programmatic learning pathways. They will act as team lead on technical best practices for developing eLearning, troubleshooting, and end user testing.
The incumbent will support learning programs by scheduling rooms, resources, and managing live training logistics.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree plus 2-3 years of related experience in Learning and Development or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Learning Management System Administration
  • Experience with various technical applications, preferably instructional technology applications such as eLearning development (Articulate 360 RISE/Storyline), virtual meetings and classrooms (Zoom), instructor and learner materials development (word, PPT, Acrobat)
  • Experience with organizing logistics, scheduling, and booking resources
