Responsibilities

  • Participate in project planning, recording, and evaluation of data.
  • Conduct independent scholarly research, developing new methods and protocols under the guidance of a mentor (principal investigator).
  • Acquire technical, lab management, and grant writing skills.
  • Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, national presentations, and professional workshops.
  • Supervise junior lab members.
  • Assist with other research projects as needed.

About the Laboratory

The JolleyLab at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is recruiting a post-doctoral scholar or research associate with expertise in machine learning and Image Processing. Specifics aspects of this project include:

  • Research on multi-perspective machine learning and registration-based automated segmentation of Pediatric Cardiac valves and ventricles from 4Dmult-modality images.
  • Creation of algorithms to leverage substantial existing detailed cardiac and valves atlases for the segmentation of invivo imaging data Applicants must have a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree (or expect to defend in the near future); an excellent background in mathematics and computational sciences; and a strong track record of independent research in medical image analysis, computer vision, or a related field.

The group is involved in many exciting image-based modeling projects, including development of novel analysis methodologies; application of the state-of-the-art techniques to clinical studies; and translational research. The Fellow will be supported by a lab consisting of research assistants, mechanical engineers, masters and PhD level research software developers, and clinical collaborators within the Center for Pediatric Heart Valve Disease at CHOP. This environment will allow the Fellow to focus on the application of biomechanicsrather than acquiring data or maintainingImage Processing infrastructure. The Jolley Labis a leader in development and dissemination of Open-Source pediatric car-diacimage analysis applications (Slicer Heart, 3D Slicer). They collaborate locally with faculty at UPENN including the UPENN Image Computing and Science Lab (PICSL) and both national and international collaborators.
