Job description

Reality Labs (RL) develops products for augmented, virtual, and mixed reality. Central to this effort is the development of sensing technologies. We are looking for intern candidates with experience in novel Machine Learning algorithm development involving time-varying signals. Our internships are twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.

Research Intern, Machine Learning for Sensors (PhD) Responsibilities:
  • Analyze sensor data to investigate object’s features or motions patterns
  • Develop and optimize novel Machine Learning algorithm with time-varying signals
  • Develop the necessary code base and infrastructure for the efficient handling and analysis of the data and development of machine-learning models
  • Communicate and present results to a wide range of audiences

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields
  • Experience in C++, Python, MATLAB or equivalent
  • Experience in at least one Machine Learning platform (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, MATLAB or equivalent)
  • Experience with signal conditioning and processing (filtering, envelope extraction, etc.)
  • Experience with Machine Learning methods and concepts (CNN, SVM, LSTM, etc.)
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
  • Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with signal processing, data analysis, Machine Learning models, or platform development in ultrasound, radar, lidar or equivalent
  • Familiarity with modern Machine Learning concepts (transformers, attention, etc.)
  • Familiarity with object or face tracking or recognition methods
  • Intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship/co-op
