Job Description Qualifications:
The Boeing Company is looking for a Research Flight Test Operations Manager to join our team in Seattle, WA or Everett, WA. This individual will manage research pilots, schedule, and test execution. This position collaborates with BDS, BCA, light support aircrew scheduling, and Aviation Safety.
This position is primarily for 1st shift; however, variable shifts may be required to support program objectives.
Position Responsibilities:

  • Operates aircraft and manages test pilots and first-level managers performing aircrew duties, including activities to prepare for and conduct safe test flight operations; applies crew resource management principles to the operation of aircraft
  • Performs and manages activities to plan, conduct and evaluate ground and test flights
  • Leads aircrew activities to support design efforts
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Manages, develops, trains and evaluates test pilots and first-level managers
  • Mitigate risks and develop safe test techniques for new technology and research configurations that have no prior Flight Test precedent and unknown characteristics
  • Manage ecoDemonstrator, Caravan autonomy, and X-66 flight operations, including: test planning, airworthiness, test execution, and test results output

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering
  • B737, B787 and B777 type ratings
  • Current FAA Airline Transport Pilot License
  • Experience in aerodynamic Flight Testing transport category aircraft

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Masters degree in an Engineering related field
  • Experience or training in Program management
  • DC-9 type rating
  • Cessna Caravan experience

Summary pay range: $237,150-$349,000
