The Morsani College of Medicine includes the School of PT and Rehabilitation Sciences (SPT&RS), Physician Assistant Program, and Medical Education and Graduate Education Programs.

The school includes the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, an Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program, and has recently added the USF entry-level and post-professional master's degree programs in Athletic Training (AT). The DPT professional program enrolls up to 50 students per class each year and is ranked in the top 50 per the US News and World Report. The USF Athletic Training Program was the first graduate professional AT program to be housed in a College of Medicine and currently has one of the largest and most diverse student populations in the country.

Faculty, staff, and students within the school are engaged in and committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, serving in university and national level DEI leadership and committee service. The school's research mission generates over $5M in funded extramural research. The school also provides clinical services at the USF Physical Therapy Center in collaboration with other healthcare specialties.

Haley VA Hospital, Lakeland Regional Health, Moffitt Cancer Center, Advent Heath, HCA Healthcare, etc.) offer clinical, educational, and research affiliations. POSITION SUMMARY: The School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences seeks exceptional candidates for an Open Rank, Tenure-track position.

This recruitment is part of an initiative to enhance the growing research portfolio of the School. The successful candidate must have an independent line of research broadly related to biomedical or health sciences as demonstrated by a strong publication record and history of extramural funding. The successful candidate will be expected to lead an extramurally funded research program, engage in collaborative research endeavors with existing and future faculty members, and contribute to all mission areas of the school.

Candidates whose areas of research compliment current SPTRS strengths in biomechanics, motor learning and neuromuscular and exercise physiology are particularly encouraged to apply. Competitive salary support and start-up funds will be provided, and rank will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments. The School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences houses the Human Functional Performance Laboratory, a 6,500 square foot space with equipment for instrumented gait analysis, dynamometry, and quantitative balance testing.

Additional wet lab space is available in the College of Medicine. Clinical and translational research opportunities are available through the Byrd Alzheimer's Research Institute and the Cardiac Institute, the Morsani Center, and Tampa General Hospital. Faculty within the school maintain active collaborations with engineering, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, and the nearby James A Haley VA.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Seek and obtain extramural research funding. Work within the USF Health interprofessional academic setting of SPT&RS of the Morsani College of Medicine to expand research initiatives. Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate administrator of a State university.

Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. Represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.

Collaborate with existing researchers and infrastructure with the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences - current areas of research include: Applied physiology, biomechanics and motor control, environmental medicine, health services research, technology and rehabilitation, and scholarship of teaching and learning. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM: Academic post professional doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, research, and service. Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals.

Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. A history of research publications and demonstrable record of federal (NIH, DoD, NSF) funding are required. PREFERRED: Post-doctoral training.

A clinical degree in line with educational foci of the School. Active, multi-year federal funding as PI (NIH K99/R00, R01 or equivalent extramural grants). USF Health Information for Applicants This position is subject to a Level 1 criminal background check.
