Purpose of the Position
OPEN UNTIL FILLED. First review of applications will be Monday, March 4, 2024.
Under the supervision of the Manager, Planning, Research and Evaluation, the Research & Evaluation Specialist will participate in program evaluation and research activities related to data management including data collection, data entry, spreadsheet and database development and management, and data preparation for analyses.
Essential Functions
  • Assists with the development of data collection instruments and related spreadsheets and/or databases.
  • Develops data entry and data quality and assurance (QA) guides and protocols.
  • Conducts data QA procedures and enters evaluation and other research data into various spreadsheets and databases.
  • Conducts data collection through face-to-face interviews, or telephonically and assists with case file reviews, case studies, surveys and focus groups, and compiles data from various electronic databases and sources.
  • Assists with the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to answer research and evaluation questions.
  • Assists with the design and management of research and program evaluation projects including updating project timelines, developing and maintaining tools for project communications and outreach (e.g., newsletters, shared document files, websites); and scheduling project meetings and locations.
  • Reviews data collection, entry, and QA procedures and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Creates and maintains electronic and hard-copy filing systems.
  • Coordinates data collection with other departments, divisions and units such as case management services, judicial divisions, Clerk of the Court, probation, and other court employees, and members of community based organizations.
  • Collaborates with the information technology employees to build reports and extract pertinent data from the AGAVE, JOLTSaz and other databases.
  • Assists in the preparation and dissemination of program evaluation and other research findings.
  • Contributes to reports to outside entities such as the Administrative Office of the courts.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public or business administration, social sciences or a related field and some experience collecting and/or entering quantitative and qualitative data intospreadsheets and databases and/or managing spreadsheets or databases; OR four years of work experience in research and/or evaluation, including working with spreadsheets and databases, generating data reports, conducting quantitative/qualitative data collection and preparing and presenting research/evaluation reports; OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education approved by Human Resources.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License at time of appointment.

Typically performs duties in an office environment may lift materials and/or equipment 20 lbs or less.
