Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Directors of Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) and Hematology, Pediatric and Adult, the Research Coordinator coordinates clinical research activity within the divisions, including internal protocols, industry protocols, and large multi-center trials. The Research Coordinator is expected to work with general guidance from supervisor to screen, enroll, and follow study subjects, ensuring protocol compliance and close monitoring while the subjects are on study. They will establish and continue strong working relationship with CDC/ATHN/HTRS/HRSA and other organizations, affiliates and community groups
May train other associates on specific tasks, if required. Performs related work as required. Hematology Division and manage research project activities ensuring the quality and integrity of data collection. They may also assist the Principal Investigator with study development, proper protocol execution and data analysis.
List of Responsibilities
The Research Coordinator will work with PI to develop the study protocol and protocol amendments for the IRB as needed, including the development of new measures. They will:
- Implement study protocols.
- Perform and manage data collection and quality control of study data. Perform analysis and regular audits to ensure that the data collected are complete and accurate, and that the research is being conducted as outlined in the protocol.
- Develop recruitment methods and manage the interview process. Oversee the process by which participants are recruited into the study.
- Obtain consent in select studies. Ensure the consent forms are filed as required.
- Prepare reports and IRB submissions. Follow up on IRB and study subject issues. Develop appropriate progress reports for the PI, study funding agency and the IRB
- Develop and implement methods to track and follow-up with study participants.
- Keep the Director apprised of the study’s status and changes within the study that affect recruitment, tracking etc.
- Make recommendations to PI and Administrator on supplies, equipment and software needed for the study
- Oversee questionnaires for completeness and accuracy
- Assist PI with preparation of grant proposals (new and competing renewals)
- Assist PI in communication of study requirements to all individuals involved in the study
- Assists PI to ensure that all key personnel in the research project have met training requirements
- Arrange meetings of study partners, develop meeting agendas, and facilitate meeting
- Facilitate the preparation of conference abstracts, oral presentations, and poster presentations, and participate in the development of manuscripts for publication.
- Partner with departmental IT resources in the development of databases; data coding manuals and data entry guidelines. Train staff and interns to collect and enter data appropriately
- Ensure that adverse events and protocol deviations are submitted to the necessary parties
- Represent the study at internal and external academic meetings and community events. Act as a liaison to project partners to discuss new procedures that could be implemented
- Determine staffing needs to ensure efficient and appropriate coverage, and recommend appropriate changes to staffing patterns as needed. Manage staff performance and valuate the quality of work providing timely and corrective feedback as needed.
- Participate in identifying and assisting junior faculty in career development activities.
- Recruit, acclimate, and supervise undergraduate and graduate student research interns.
- Work with Departmental Administrator to develop and monitor project budgets
