Research Center Internship

Education Week, a nonprofit media organization that focuses on and is committed to K-12 education news, is seeking an intern to join our EdWeek Research Center team. 

Job Summary 

The EdWeek Research Center Intern will work closely with a lively research staff to produce influential publications and web-based content that provide information on efforts to improve teaching and learning. The work is primarily research and analytic in nature, rather than editorial. Tasks may include compiling and analyzing education data from state and federal sources, conducting literature reviews, updating web content, reviewing Research Center products, and other tasks, as assigned.

The EdWeek Research Center Intern must be highly detail-oriented and display an interest in education and public policy. Skills with quantitative research are preferred, and experience with SPSS, Stata, R, or a similar statistical program is required. This paid internship ($15.00 per hour) is currently a hybrid position with a maximum of 29 hours per week, working on-site at least 2 days per week with a virtual working experience the remainder of the week.

Responsibilities 

• Collect and analyze education data
• Use Excel and SPSS to assist with data analyses
• Analyze results from surveys of educators
• Proofread research reports, surveys, and articles for data-driven journalism

Qualifications and Skills 

• Working knowledge of Excel
• Ability to multi-task on a variety of assignments
• Strong analytical skills for reviewing education data and policies
• Attention to detail for managing data and contact information in spreadsheets
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Familiarity with surveys, and market research
• Familiarity with SPSS required
• Currently a graduate student in education, public policy, or social sciences
• Strong interest in education research required
