SalaryThe Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) is a living laboratory where we investigate the relationship between computer technology, human activity, and society. Founded in 1993, the HCII is a place where we work to understand and create technology that harmonizes with and improves human capabilities, goals, and social environments through interdisciplinary research and education in design, Computer Science, and behavioral and social sciences. We research how people work, play, and communicate within groups, organizations, and social structures, then we design, create, and evaluate technologies and tools to support human and social activities.
HCII is seeking a Research Associate help with qualitative and quantitative research around usable security, focusing specifically on cryptocurrency wallets. The work will involve recruiting and interviewing participants, developing a survey, deploying the survey, analyzing the results, and writing up the work in a research paper.
Core Responsibilities:
- Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect, and record results or observations.
- Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.
- Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination, or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models.
- Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.
- May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1-3 years of research, methodology, lab, and data collection experience.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

- A remote work option may be available for candidates with residency in California. All approved remote work arrangements are subject to an approved remote work agreement (RWA) as part of any offer of employment.
- Wage Transparency Requirements: In accordance with the pay transparency legislation set forth by CA, the corresponding salary range for this position, if placed in CA is between $17.00 - $20.85 per hour.
