Research Associate-Pediatrics Nephrology

Pediatrics Nephrology, full time, nonexempt position located at 6431 Fannin St., Houston, Texas, 77030.
Responsibilities include: IRB submission. Consent subjects to participate in research. Maintain different research databases. Data entry. Clinical trial management. Knowledgeable with audits from sponsors and internal and external regulatory authorities. Travel to different UT sites if necessary for subject recruitment and enrollment. Sample handling and shipping. Drug accountability.
Preferred skills: data analysis, RedCap data management.
Data entry will take up the most time in the beginning. We currently have several registries we are a part of and have a backlog of data that needs to be brought up to date. Will need training for the specific studies. Travel for research purposes in expected.
This position will support the research activities of the Division of Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension (including dialysis and transplantation). Current projects include NAPRTCS (North America Pediatric Renal Transplant and Collaborative Trials), IROC (Improving Renal Outcomes in Transplantation, PNRC (Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium), Fit4Kid study (multi-center, NIH-funded trial).
This is preferably an in-office position, but open to consider a hybrid arrangement. Expected start date January 2024.

Position Summary:
Plans, conducts, and directs a wide variety of experiments. Assists with the day-to-day activities for research project(s) and may impact the success of the research project(s). Responsible for ensuring study is in compliance with local and federal laws and regulations. Creates and/or maintains all documents and records related to the study. Manages the inventory of equipment and supplies related to the study and orders more as needed. Attends meetings, events and seminars related to the conduct of the study.
Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Collects, evaluates, interprets, and documents research data to accomplish the objectives of a wide variety of scientific experiments and research projects.
2. Influences project direction and outcomes by identifying opportunities to enhance, terminate, or re-direct research activities.
3. May recruit study participants or field interviewers.
4. Evaluates and interprets data and provides results to investigators to support publication.
5. Maintains quality control checks and a safe environment in compliance with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.
6. Assists in the preparation and writing of research reports, manuscripts, papers and grant proposals for presentation and publication.
7. Provides direction and training to lab personnel to ensure efficient, timely and high quality results in compliance with all protocols, guidelines, regulations, etc.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:
Considerable knowledge in basic and sophisticated equipment.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field with three (3) years of related research experience including experience in a lead research role; or
Master's degree in a related field with one (1) year of related research experience including experience in a lead research role; or
Doctorate degree.
Minimum Experience:
Years of experience varies based on education level.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
