Research Associate - Center for Agricultural Synthetic Biology (UTIA)A full-time Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Scott Lenaghan with the Center for Agricultural Synthetic Biology. This position is grant-funded and continued employment is contingent upon funding. The researcher will assist in the improvement of plants through genetic engineering to help address real world challenges in agriculture and the environment. A qualified candidate must be proficient in performing PCR, plasmid DNA isolation, restriction enzyme digestions, gel extractions, yeast transformation, plant transformation, preparation of media and buffers, greenhouse maintenance, and other tasks as needed. Must also be able to create experimental designs and assist in forming standardized research protocols. Qualifications
Key Areas of ResponsibilityRequirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in plant biology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or other related field and 3 years’ experience in relevant lab research. Master’s degree in plant biology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or other related field is preferred.Preference will be given to applicants with publications, experience, and considerable drive and motivation.Further, the position requires excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a highly interdisciplinary team-based environment.The applicant must be willing to work in a team environment.
