SCOPEOF RESPONSIBILITY:
The LangstonUniversity Sherman Lewis School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences seeks aqualified candidate to serve as Research Assistant Professor in Agribusiness,Applied Economics and/or Agricultural Economics. This research and faculty position entails research,teaching, and potential extension responsibilities. The successful candidate is expected to teachundergraduate and graduate courses (in classroom and online) for programconcentrations in Agribusiness and Applied Agricultural Economics, conductcontemporary high-quality research and engage with stakeholders through cooperativeextension programs.
He/she shouldhave completed advanced courses in agricultural economics/agribusiness, econometrics,data analytics and economic theory at a reputable university (preferably in theUS); understands rural/urban areas and economic development; and must be ableto effectively interact and work with scientists in animal science, resourcesustainability, plant science and other disciplines. He or she will also interface with extension practitioners,community participants and leaders; someone who endeavors to be an advocate forstudents, rural people, and community development.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Teach various courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics.
Have a sound understanding of econometrics and data analytics.
Conduct research in his/her chosen field.
Engage in Agribusiness and Applied Economics research at the state, regional and national levels.
Develop teaching and research proposals.
Mentor and supervise undergraduate students.
Supervise graduate student thesis activities.
Serve on department, school, and university-wide committees.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Preferably, thecandidate should understand, or experience in rural/urban community affairs andmust be able to effectively interact with extension practitioners, communityparticipants and leaders; someone who endeavors to be an advocate for peopleand community development.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods.
Occasional ability to lift, carry, and put away parcels weighing up to 25 pounds.
Normal physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job taking distance and speed into account.

As an economist, provide support to other researchers on their research grants.
Develop partnerships with campus entities, private industry, public agencies, and other stakeholders.
Other activities as assigned by the Chair/Dean
Advise, and possibly supervise undergraduates and extra-curricular student activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in AgriculturalEconomics, Agribusiness, or a related field. Also, a strong capability in Economic Theory, Statistics, Econometricsand quantitative analysis, primary and secondary data collection and ability touse economic theory innovatively. Theapplicant must be energetic, passionate, open minded and interested in teachingand research excellence; willing to participate in recruitment activities and practicecustomer service at the highest level; He/she must be a team orientedindividual and possess excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with clienteles,staff, and faculty.
