The Department of BioMolecular Sciences at The University of Mississippi invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor to act as the manager of the GlyCORE Imaging Core. We are looking for candidates to run a new microscopy core with several imaging systems including a Leica LSCM and a JOEL FESEM. The successful candidate will be expected to 1) manage the use of the core imaging systems, 2) train new users on the use of the microscopes and in image analysis, 3), assist new users obtain the best possible images and analyze these images, 4) develop new imaging protocols, 5) consult and collaborate with users with sample preparation for the different imaging systems, and 6) help maintain the microscopes and imaging systems. Applicants are expected to have expertise with confocal microscopy, SEM, and advanced optical microscopy techniques. Applicants should also be familiar with techniques for image analysis, and experience with imaging glycans is a plus. This position includes opportunities for continued professional development.
