Position Description
Advertised Job Summary The College of Nursing at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a Biostatistician. The college has a large and expanding program of collaborative internally and externally funded research. Major research topical areas include cancer prevention and survivorship, chronic health conditions, neonatal, maternal and child health, and health equity.
The position will primarily involve collaborative interactions within the College of Nursing to develop federal grant proposals and advance statistical methodology within nursing/health sciences and biobehavioral research. Competitive candidates will have expertise to contribute to the design and analyses of randomized controlled trials, observational studies, and secondary analyses of national data sets. We also strongly encourage applications from individuals with methodologic expertise in '-omics' approaches, predictive analytics, spatial data analysis or other approaches that utilize big data.
Responsibilities will include collaborations on ongoing research projects as well as providing statistical support for grant applications and select doctoral dissertations (e.g., power analyses, drafting analytic plans), data-based manuscripts, and presentations.
Required Education and Experience PhD in statistics, biostatistics, or related field. Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a successful program and portfolio of extramural funding. Demonstrated success contributing statistical expertise to obtain external funding, especially NIH, and other federal agencies. Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Commitment to inclusive excellence.
