Job Summary

The Research and Evaluation Analyst has primary responsibility for developing, analyzing, distributing and maintaining reporting and data analysis across functional areas to provide insight into performance and make recommendations in support of key tactical and strategic decisions.

 

The Research and Evaluation Analyst is responsible for developing, and managing the organization’s Research and Evaluation to assess and track performance of programs and initiatives. This position will drive system requirements; document and maintain evaluation processes for assigned systems; and implement, maintain, and support business software applications.  By collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data across all operations functions, the Research and Evaluation Analyst demonstrates the measurable impact of programs and informs the implementation of future funding, including Development for fundraising, and initiatives.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the organization’s Research and Evaluation strategy. Independently design, manage, conduct, and analyze internal and external research and Evaluation on behalf of the council and in support of the organization’s strategic plan, action plan, and membership goals. Serve as the council’s lead evaluation subject matter expert developing and maintaining relationships with funders, program partners, GSUSA, the Girl Scout Research Institute. 
  • Work with business owners to identify, document, and maintain Research and Evaluation processes. Establish, develop and report on key analytics relevant to membership, fund development, retail, girl program, product sales, and other areas as identified. Proactively engage, consult and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business challenges; support goal achievement by providing key metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Facilitate data-driven, fact-based decision making by analyzing and disseminating key findings, ensuring data is reliable and actionable.
  • Design, manage, conduct and analyze primary as well as secondary research, demographic and trend data, longitudinal data, and data collection measurement tools. Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis and visualize data. Maintain repository all of outcomes and develop, manage, and deliver regular reports to staff to communicate impact, identify continuous improvement, and build evaluation capacity. 
  • Independently develop, manage, and deliver presentations to Executive Leadership Team, various staff committees, and staff teams on Research and Evaluation findings and current trends related to program development and outcome achievement to inform and influence data-driven organizational strategies, initiatives, and work plans and to assure high quality experience for girls.
  • Conduct entire Research and Evaluation lifecycle through an equity lens.
  • Maintain data files and databases and monitors the system configurations to ensure data integrity. Design and maintain periodic and ad-hoc reports as needed.  Design, distribute and operationalize recurring performance reporting as well as improve the effectiveness and accuracy of reporting and forecasting tools/models.

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Collaborate with colleagues across operations functions, as well as partners across the council. Actively participate in All Staff meetings, staff in-service training, and other meetings.
  • When representing the council to both internal and external audiences, articulate GSRV’s desired image and position to all audiences.
  • Support the council’s commitment to diversity of girls, volunteers, and staff and conduct all activities with a high degree of cultural competency.
  • Contribute to building a cohesive, flexible, and productive staff environment that demonstrates the values and mission of Girl Scouts and delivers high-quality customer service. 
  • Subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement.
  • Become a registered member of GSUSA.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Data Analysis, Business Administration or similar.
  • Minimum 3 years of data analysis, non-profit experience including responsibility for: youth program development; program outcomes evaluation; fiscal/grant management; volunteer management; or a combination of equivalent experience and training.
  • Demonstrated experience using software applications to manipulate and analyze data, including Qualtrics (survey creation) and Excel (data analysis).

 

Preferred:

  • Professional experience in survey design, data Research and/or program outcomes evaluation. 
  • Knowledge and experience with Youth Program Quality Assessment (YPQA) process and reporting.
  • Profiency using ArcGIS software.
  • Experience writing, conducting and analyzing data and Evaluation tools for BIPOC populations.

  • Strong business orientation; ability to grasp complex strategic issues and identify high-impact analysis to address the issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and distill the results of complex analyses and communicate to non-technical constituents.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Proven oral and written communication abilities (i.e. verbal, written, in person and/or over the telephone); demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues and communicate effectively with a diverse group of girls, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects while managing conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • A self-starter who can work independently with minimal oversight and takes initiative; is flexible, adaptable, self-manager, organized, and has a strong attention to detail; thrives in fast-paced, change-oriented environment. Excellent independent decision-making skills and strong resourcefulness.
  • Ability to foster and maintain strong interdepartmental relationships to motivate and accomplish work through others.
  • Proficient in MS Office: Word, Power Point, Outlook, with advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as required by position responsibilities.
