Corteva Agriscience has an opportunity for a Row Crop Research Agronomist. In this exciting role, your scientific knowledge and deep understanding of agronomy will make you an asset to our Research Team based in Woodland, CA. As an integral member of the team, your responsibilities will include providing support to project leaders, scientist, and research associates in executing field trials. Your experience in row crops, will be put to excellent use at the Woodland, Corteva location. This role will be 100% on-site at a Corteva location.
Responsibilities - What You Will Do:
- Supporting row crop project managers, scientist, research associates and the agronomy team to ensure the proper utilization of all agronomic practices (i.e., Integrated Pest Management, field preparation, planting, irrigation, and harvest).
- Scout crops frequently and report on insect, weed, plant health, and irrigation needs.
- Train and manage contractors to aid in all field or warehouse activities.
- Participate in all agronomy and planning meetings, that is required by site leadership.
- Draft and implement standard operating procedures for row crops.
- Mix and apply chemicals as needed.
- Operate farm equipment on-site.
- Maintain required safety programs.
- Constant observation of crews and knowledge of crop dynamics are essential.
- This role will be responsible for the health and wellbeing of all field trials sites with an emphasis of plot quality.
- Any other task that is assigned to you.
Qualifications
Experience - What Skills You Need:
- Minimum of BS degree in Crop Science, Agronomy, Plant Sciences or related field of study or 5+ years of direct experience in a similar role.
- California QAC/QAL/PCA license, or ability to obtain as soon as possible.
- Experience with implementation of applied agricultural field trials preferred.
- Agronomic experience in row crops highly desired.
- Ability to work outside during high summer temperatures.
- Valid drivers license and the ability to drive.
- Take initiative, Fast Learner, People-Logistics oriented.
- High proficiency in reading, writing, and fluent in English.
