Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they're well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Key Responsibilities:
This position supports IBT traveling Field Service Technicians and any third-party maintenance providers accomplishing maintenance tasks, execution, productivity, accountability and dependability on all United owned Ground Service Equipment and Facility assets. Takes the lead in maintaining the relationship between the line station users and the third-party vendors. Provides technical assistance and guidance to ensure equipment is maintained to company standards. Acts as a communication link with manufactures and service providers in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of United owned or leased equipment. Participates in the monitoring and administration of service level agreements and the work order management system. Maintains a focus on servicing both the line station users, United technicians and third-party providers with maintenance requests and technical guidance. Coordinates the sourcing of United approved parts taking into consideration availability, cost, and operational needs.
  • Provides technical insight, support, direction, and authorization to those completing maintenance assignments, overhaul, repair and planned maintenance of Ground Service Equipment and/or facility equipment in all domestic line stations where maintenance is primarily completed by external service providers and/or United Field Service Technicians
  • Travel up to 25% to support locations
  • Leads maintenance teams' performance and execution against division and corporate maintenance objectives
  • This includes maintenance customer (SLA) service level agreement compliance, maintenance through-put, in-service requirements for all planned and unplanned maintenance program compliance
  • Provides direction and support to United technicians and service providers in identification and ordering of required parts for all ground equipment and facility related preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Ensure all work is assigned and completed in accordance with established procedures and maintenance programs
  • Provides technical input in the development of specific PM checks for any GSE and/or facility maintenance assets
  • Supports all safety/OSHA, environmental and training compliance
  • Leads accurate and effective customer reporting and communication programs while sustaining positive customer service and effectiveness ratings
  • Provide technical information, parts support and guidance to International locations who have United owned assets
  • Maintains proactive communication and positive relations with maintenance team and customer group stakeholders
  • Participates in the development, monitoring, and performance against established service level agreements
  • Perform on-sight maintenance compliance audits to ensure all aspects of United's maintenance program are being adhered to standards

What's needed to succeed:
  • Associate degree or 2 years of relevant work experience
  • 3 years experience maintaining and repairing ground equipment or facility assets which includes gas/diesel engines, electrical/hydraulic systems and motorized/non-motorized equipment
  • 2 years leadership experience in auto/diesel, Ground Service Equipment, facilities maintenance operations or parts operation
  • Proficiency with electrical schematics and parts diagrams
  • Solid understanding of an effective shop operation and the parts supply chain process
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide technical assistance and direction from a central location
  • Strong maintenance, parts and mechanical background, attention to detail and customer focused
  • Microsoft Office proficient
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack:
  • ASE Certification and/or related Skills/Trade Licenses
  • Experience in Airport GSE-related and/or in airport Facility Maintenance systems
  • Experience in leading and directing third-party maintenance providers across a large region remotely
  • Working knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) / EAM (Enterprise Asset Management)
  • Knowledge and experience with Industry Standard repair times
