and Safety programs to promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.Responsibilities
- Ensures regulatory compliance in assigned environmental, occupational health, and Safety programs.
- Creates and maintains policies and procedures for environmental, occupational health, and Safety programs.
- Responds to deviations and unexpected events required, with appropriate recommendations.
- Developing or maintaining programs and trainings including: Bloodborne Pathogens, Drivers Safety, and Hazard Communication.
- Ensures all follow up actions are completed in including emergency responses.
- Develops and presents EHS training and educational programs.
- Executes internal audit program according to schedule, related to EHS programs.
- Completes and submits environmental and Safety reports to regulatory agencies.
- Identifies, analyzes and reports on EHS metrics as a timely manner for required activities.
- Supports organizational projects from an EHS perspective and completes assigned tasks in timely manner.
- Acts as consultant/resource for EHS programs.
- Partners effectively with internal departments to identify and implement process improvements for EHS programs.
- Participates in development of EHS annual and 3-year plans, including identifying potential programs to enhance employee safety at HBC.
- Develops and implements safety programs per 3-year and annual plan
- Promotes organizational culture to be one that embraces and fosters individual commitment to EHS (coordinating Safety Fair, Safety Committee, Health & Wellness, etc.).
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
Qualifications
Education- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in health sciences, occupational health or safety, industrial hygiene, environmental sciences, or related field. required
Experience- 4-6 years of ergonomics, environmental, chemical or safety experience required
- 1-3 years of training experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Basic knowledge of current local, state, and federal regulations, guidelines, and industry standards relating to the environment, employee health, and Safety required; in particular, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation).
- Basic knowledge in additional areas such as EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) , NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission), NFPA (The National Fire Protection Agency), ANSI (American National Standards Institute), IATA (International Air Transportation Association), RCRA (The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act), or ICS (Incident Command System).
- Ability to identify and interpret all applicable regulations and provide guidance to customers at all levels in the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Understanding of completing OSHA300 Logs and injury tracking and investigation documents.
- Ability to prioritize, manage, and complete multiple tasks within designated deadlines, often requiring a shift in priorities with little advance notice.
- Ability to effectively lead/manage projects in a team setting.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Training skills with the ability to design and conduct training sessions.
- Knowledge of ergonomics.

- Valid Illinois driver's license and access to a vehicle for periodic travel to off-site facilities.
Licenses and Certifications- Professional safety certification preferred, such as CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), CHSP (Certified Healthcare Safety Professional), CSP(Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CPE (Certified Professional Ergonomist) or similar. preferred
