Reporter/Weekend Weather Anchor (NE)

ROLE: FOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News duopoly is seeking a Weekday Reporter/Weekend Weather Anchor to support our top-rated newscasts committed to serving the San Diego community. Successful candidate excels in ad-libbing, storytelling on all platforms, connecting with viewers, can receive feedback and models professionalism on and off the air.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accurate reporting of news stories
• Attend editorial meetings and regularly pitch original story ideas
• Develops community contacts and a network of news sources
• Must be able to ad-lib live breaking news by telling a compelling story with a strong ability to interact with anchors in studio
• Works with the photographer in the development of a story
• Regularly updates newsroom on story elements and progress
• Use social media to update news and weather stories to the public
• Attend station partnerships in the community
• Produce and anchor weather, traffic segments for weekend newscasts and fill-in during the week as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must have undergraduate degree or equivalent related experience
• Prefer 3-5 years TV news reporting and Weather Anchor experience in a medium to large market

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must interact positively and productively with other employees and in the field
• Strong on-air presentation - must be credible, personable and passionate
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be able to accept constructive direction and feedback
• In line with reporting duties, individual must be flexible with schedule and be willing to work additional hours or days or different shifts as required by news content
• Knowledge of WSI, Baron or similar weather forecasting system

Compensation - $31.25/hr - $33.654/hr commensurate with experience and skill level
