Essential Functions:
- Occupy the left seat unless giving captain IOE, line checks or flight training, if qualified.
- Prior to flight, each captain is jointly responsible with System Operations Control (SOC) to be familiar with all available information concerning that flight including current inspection status and aircraft AML, DD and, if appropriate, the maintenance release sheet.
- Along with SOC, the captain plans the flight and obtains briefing information regarding weather, operation procedures, and special instructions.
- When unable to use Mesa Airlines flied flight plans, prepare and coordinate with SOC the preparation of a flight plan considering such factors as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise control data, airport facilities and navigational aids.
- Ensure aircraft has had a proper preflight inspection, is within inspection time limits, loaded, equipped and manned for the flight assignment.
- Ensure aircraft has a valid airworthiness release.
- Ensure weight and balance is within prescribed limitations per Company Flight Manual.
- Responsible for the cargo and airplane.
- Must not operate in a careless or reckless manner.
- Operational control shared with the Director of Operations for supplemental operations.
- Other duties assigned to perform the requirements of the position.
Requirements
- Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot certificate with an Airplane Category rating and appropriate type rating.
- Must have a high school diploma.
- Must be able fly multiple flexible schedules.
- Satisfy all company and regulatory employment requirements.
