Remote Tutor For Ap History: Modern

Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic tutor to provide Remote Tutoring sessions for students enrolled in AP History: Modern courses. As a tutor, you will assist students in exploring the history of the modern world, analyzing key events, trends, and themes, and preparing for the AP exam. This position requires a strong understanding of modern world history, effective communication skills, and a passion for fostering students' historical inquiry and critical thinking.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct Remote Tutoring Sessions: Provide personalized tutoring sessions via online platforms to support students in AP History: Modern courses.
• Historical Content Mastery: Help students master key concepts, events, and developments in modern world history from the late 15th century to the present, including political, social, economic, and cultural transformations.
• Primary Source Analysis: Guide students in analyzing primary source documents, including texts, maps, images, and artifacts, to develop critical historical thinking skills.
• Essay Writing Instruction: Assist students in improving their historical writing skills, focusing on thesis development, argumentation, evidence citation, and essay structure.
• Exam Preparation: Familiarize students with the format, content, and scoring criteria of the AP History: Modern exam, providing practice tests, review sessions, and test-taking strategies.
• Historiography and Interpretation: Introduce students to historiographical debates and different historical interpretations, encouraging them to evaluate historical arguments and perspectives.
• Discussion Facilitation: Stimulate engaging discussions on historical topics, encouraging students to express their ideas, defend their interpretations, and engage in respectful debate.
• Research Projects: Supervise research projects and assignments, guiding students through the research process, source evaluation, and presentation of findings.
• Track Student Progress: Maintain detailed records of tutoring sessions, monitor students' academic progress, and provide regular feedback to students and parents/guardians.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in History, International Studies, or a related field.
• Previous experience teaching or tutoring AP History: Modern courses preferred.
• Strong knowledge of modern world history, including major events, figures, and themes, and the ability to contextualize historical developments within broader global narratives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex historical concepts clearly and engage students in meaningful discussions.
• Proficiency in using online tutoring platforms and technology for remote instruction.
• Passion for history education and a commitment to fostering students' historical inquiry, critical thinking, and appreciation for the complexities of the modern world.
