Job Description:

We are seeking a Remote Tutor for Advanced Placement (AP) European History to provide comprehensive academic support and guidance to students preparing for this challenging course and exam. As a tutor, you will work remotely to help students develop a deep understanding of European history from the Renaissance to the present day.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct Remote Tutoring sessions via video conferencing or online platforms to provide personalized instruction and support to students enrolled in AP European History courses.
• Assist students in understanding the key events, movements, individuals, and themes in European history from the Renaissance to the present.
• Facilitate discussions on European history topics, including political, social, economic, cultural, and intellectual developments, to deepen students' understanding and critical thinking skills.
• Provide instruction on exam-specific skills, including document analysis, historical argumentation, and essay writing, tailored to the requirements of the AP exam.
• Help students develop effective study strategies, including note-taking, outlining, and memorization techniques, to prepare for exams and assignments.
• Assist students in preparing for the AP exam, including practice tests, document-based questions (DBQs), and free-response questions (FRQs), focused on exam content and format.
• Offer constructive feedback on students' essays, DBQs, FRQs, and other assignments, helping them improve their historical analysis and writing skills.
• Stay informed about the latest developments in AP European History curriculum, exam format, and scoring criteria.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and educators to assess progress, address concerns, and provide recommendations for further improvement.
• Collaborate with other tutors and history educators to develop resources, lesson plans, and enrichment activities tailored to the needs of AP European History students.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in History, European Studies, or a related field. Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) preferred.
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience in European History, particularly in Advanced Placement or college-level courses, is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of European history, including major events, movements, figures, and historical interpretations, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide constructive feedback on students' historical analysis and writing.
• Passion for history education and a commitment to fostering critical thinking and historical literacy in students.
• Proficiency in using technology for Remote Tutoring, including video conferencing platforms, online collaborative tools, and document sharing software.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
• Flexibility to accommodate students' schedules, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement as a tutor.
