Summary: The Refunds Specialist, under the direction of the Refunds Supervisor, reviews and resolves new and existing credit balance accounts. The Refunds Specialist position accomplishes this through compliance with CHS Credit Balance policies and procedures, guided by Refunds Leadership and the objectives of the SSC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (List in order of importance or percentage of time spent on the particular responsibility. High to Low)
- Research and resolve credit balance accounts according to CHS Credit Balance policies and procedure. (20%)
- Maintain a working knowledge of current refund and recoupment processes. (15%)
- Ensure account balance and financial class integrity. (15%)
- Maintain a working knowledge of all essential host and workflow systems, and website. (20%)
- Ensure compliance with productivity and quality standards set forth by Refunds Leadership. (20%)
- Maintain open and productive communication with others, both within the SSC and external. (10%)
Qualifications:
Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education:Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or mathematics
Minimum Experience: 1 Year of experience in healthcare revenue cycle or business office.
Preferred Experience: 2+ years’ experience in revenue cycle structure and process
License/Registration/Certificate: None
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Database software.
