POSITION SUMMARY
This position accurately assigns diagnostic and procedural codes to ophthalmic services, ensuring compliance with coding regulations and guidelines. Collaborating with healthcare teams, they resolve coding discrepancies, stay updated on industry changes, and participate in audits. They provide coding support to billing teams, utilize electronic health records and coding software, and contribute to departmental success and quality improvement initiatives.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED Actively enrolled in a coding program for AHIMA or AAPC credential.
- Less than 6 months
- Certification from AHIMA or AAPC
- Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology
- 6 months or greater
- CCS, CPC
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, computer, written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong Microsoft Office knowledge skills.
- Must possess working knowledge of Official Coding Guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic.
- Strong time management and critical thinking skills.
