Job Description
NBC’s Relationship Manager is stimulating, challenging, and offers the opportunity for growth. Candidates should be capable of properly managing a sizeable loan portfolio on a consistent basis. Expected to work semi-independently with a like-minded group of professionals who directly contribute to the success of the Bank.
The general responsibilities of the position, which are all completed within the framework of Bank policies and procedures, are:
- Ability to effectively maintain and expand as assigned portfolio of C&I and CRE loans, while delivering on the NBC promise of service excellence;
- Aid in tracking, analyzing and managing non-performing, underperforming and delinquent loans in conjunction with the Collections Department when necessary;
- Research and examine credit risk, assess credit history, analyze credit information, recommend loan rating, recommend approval or denial of loan requests and monitor compliance with bank loan policy;
- Proactively calls the customer base to confirm their satisfaction with the organization, discuss future plans, uncover additional opportunities to provide lending, deposit and cash management solutions;
- Evaluate the appropriateness of proposed or existing collateral;
- Knowledgeable of the commercial real estate construction monitoring process;
- Ability to work collaboratively with Loan Officers, Underwriters, and other internal colleagues;
- Actively participate in the annual review process to include; gathering financial information, analyzing performance metrics, and working closely with the credit analyst to complete the annual review document;
- Remain current on changes in economic and market conditions that could affect credit risk;
- Perform other duties as needed within the department.
Necessary Skills, Training, and Dispositions:
- 1-3 years of experience in commercial credit or Banking preferred;
- College degree in finance, business, math, or related field;
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to build and cultivate relationships with existing loan customers;
- Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite. Candidates should have confidence using Microsoft Excel/Word and have the aptitude to quickly learn new programs;
- Self-motivation is key in this position. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines is essential;
- Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation is required as this position involves local travel;
- Aptitude to assume responsibility and accountability for decision-making is a must.
