Rehabilitation Psychologist - .35 FTE - University of Minnesota
The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Adult Neuropsychology, at the University of Minnesota announces an outstanding opportunity to join a dynamic and growing academic medicine department as psychologist, specializing in rehabilitation psychology, providing care within a 30-bed, CARF-accredited, comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) and inpatient physiatry consultations within a large, academic healthcare center. This position is part-time at 0.35 FTE; however, could be full time if candidate brings active, funded research.
The M Health Fairview Acute Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a CARF-accredited Comprehensive Medical Inpatient Rehabilitation and Stroke Specialty Program. Common diagnoses include stroke, brain injury, debility/complex medical, spinal cord injury, cardiac/pulmonary, orthopedic, other neurological conditions, and limb loss.
As an inpatient provider, the candidate’s responsibilities will include assisting in patient care through psychosocial diagnostic testing and interview, individual and group psychotherapy, training, research, and consultation. The ideal candidate will be committed to excellent patient care, possess strong psychology skills, have outstanding interpersonal skills, and have an interest in education and scholarly activity. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have a PhD or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, be eligible to obtain a Minnesota Board of Psychology license, and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges. Applicants must possess the leadership skills to manage change and communicate effectively in a rapidly expanding department. Enthusiasm, a collaborative nature, and an interest in cultivating a thriving academic rehabilitation psychology practice are essential to the success of the department and M Health Fairview’s ARC.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Board certified or board eligible in rehabilitation psychology or clinical health psychology
- Experience working in an academic medical system
- Experience collaborating with individuals across multiple departments, practices, and health systems
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide psychological services to patients and their families/support systems in a primarily inpatient clinical setting on the ARC
- Independently and interdependently conduct diagnostic evaluations, therapeutic interventions, patient education, and additional referrals as necessary
- Work with the allied health team at the ARC to forge partnerships, establish trust, and build strong relationships with referring departments and units to maintain and strengthen the program
- Develop and lead staff and trainee education/professional training in psychological issues
- Working with providers and trainees (medical students, residents, fellows, visiting students, and other allied health professionals) in inpatient and outpatient settings
- Close all patient encounters before eight (8) calendar days
As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the candidate will join an active academic adult neuropsychology clinical practice and a growing academic department. Faculty members mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and allied health professionals; including teaching, training, and general supervision in a clinical setting. Academic track and rank are determined by the applicant’s qualifications and interests. Academic time is used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate’s area of specialty/research expertise. Faculty will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment.
