REHAB SVC MGR 1

Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director for Pediatric Rehabilitation Services is responsible for managing the operational functions related to therapy service provision including staffing, budgeting, quality, staff education and training, innovation and sustainability for both the inpatient and outpatient Pedi Rehab departments. The incumbent provides leadership to the full staff of Occupational and Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Rehab Aides, and Administrative Assistants, as well as direct supervision for Clinical Supervisors. The Site Coordinator for Clinical Education and the Coordinator of Quality Improvement receive indirect supervision related to the scope of their roles and impact on service provision.
The Assistant Director evaluates and assures the quality of work performed in all clinical areas and resolves any issues that negatively impact the delivery of patient care. The incumbent oversees staff development and educational programs, student educational programs, and all performance and quality improvement activities and programs for the departments. Further, the incumbent analyzes system and process barriers, and engages effective problem-solving techniques to optimize clinical staff and operational performance.
The Assistant Director can evaluate the level of performance of routine and complex therapeutic intervention techniques within her or his therapy discipline (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology). In both administrative and clinical activities, the Assistant Director will work with persons across the age continuum from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. As a leader in the Department of Rehabilitation Services, the incumbent sets priorities in conjunction with the Director and follows through on assignments in an independent manner. The Assistant Director is also responsible for facilitating change as we progress toward the long-term vision of the Department and organization.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
