Job Description

The Regulatory Reporting Specialist is a highly visible and impactful position responsible for Northern Trust’s regulatory financial filings. The primary responsibility will be the completion and submission of Regulatory Reporting filings for Northern Trust Corporation and The Northern Trust Company and ensuring compliance with rules and regulations established by the Federal Reserve, Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), and other regulatory authorities.

As part of the Regulatory Reporting team you will have an opportunity to collaborate and build relationships with partners across the organization as you work to collect and analyze data required to complete regulatory reports. You will also have an opportunity to shape management reports and analytics as the organization transitions to a more data-centric reporting model.

You will have an opportunity to lead and participate in quality control efforts to ensure information used and reported in regulatory reports is consistent with requirements, between reports and schedules, and with other internal and external reporting, as applicable.

You will also assist in enhancing and maintaining a robust internal control framework over Regulatory Reporting to ensure compliance with relevant rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Economics, etc)
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in financial services or a related industry, with a significant focus on Regulatory Reporting, compliance, and financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of and experience in interpreting and implementing financial or Regulatory Reporting rules and regulations.
  • Comfortable working with large data sets and creating relevant reports / analytics.
  • Experience in designing / improving of internal control environment and driving data quality and process improvements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting regulatory reports a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing regulatory filings prepared by junior staff for compliance with regulatory instructions. Typical filings include the FR Y-9C, FR Y-9LP, FFIEC 009, FR Y-14Q, and FR Y-15.
  • Driving redesign of internal controls, processes, analytics as the team migrates to a more automated environment.
  • Participate in industry forums related to regulatory initiatives. Develop into a subject matter expert within assigned responsibilities.
  • Challenge data reported in all reporting schedules, identify potential gaps, and drive remediation plans with data owners.
  • Integrating new returns, products, activities into the existing regulatory data and systems
  • Working closely with partners across the organization on reporting projects
  • Developing and producing high quality analytics
  • Presenting Regulatory Reporting information to executives
