- Registered or registry eligible as a Cardiac & Vascular Sonographer.
- Prefer two (2) years allied health program or two (2) years of college with biological sciences.
- Ability to demonstrate competency in cardiovascular echocardiography
- Must be able to recognize abnormal structure and be able to correlate this information into a useful study.

General Job Summary:
The Echo/Vascular Tech is responsible for a specified cardiology procedures and the collection of pertinent information for their interpretation. In addition, the technologist is accountable for the coordination of all procedural processes and their respective and applicable details. These procedures are performed under indirect medical supervision of the department’s medical director, according to departmental policies and procedures. Employee’s skills are verified demonstratively and cognitively. The practitioner demonstrates the knowledge, skills, understanding and ability to care for patients of all age groups; and is sensitive to the diverse and unique needs of patients based on age, sex, race and culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs prescribed cardiology procedures, i.e., echocardiograms and cardiac stress testing and assisting with trans-esophageal echocardiograms using consistent and proper technique. Assembles, checks, and operates cardiology equipment such as echocardiograph units and treadmills. (70%)
2. Proficient in the basic interpretation of all cardiology tests and other pertinent clinical data. (10%)
3. Evaluates and monitors patient’s response to diagnostic testing; collects all pertinent data and records results.(10%)
4. Performs required cleaning and maintenance of all cardio and cardiovascular equipment and work areas. (5%)
5. Participates and functions in tasks related to infection control, safety, and quality assurance. (2.5%)
6. Participates in continuing education, continuous quality improvement. (2.5%)
7. Utilizes appropriate customer scripting as evidenced by observation and improved patient satisfaction.
Minimal Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1) Ultrasound certification by ARDMS/CCI (RDCS/RCS)
2) Three years experience in echocardiography
3) CPR certified
4) CME credits up to date
5) Advanced Cardio Life Support ( required within 3 months of hire)
