Night Weekend Package for Registered Nurse position for Med-Surg floor. Friday, Saturday, Sunday Days - 6:45 p.m. - 7:15 a.m. 12 hours shifts. Rotating holidays. 60-72 hours per pay period with full benefits. Full-time benefits available: IPERS, Health Insurance, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Long Term Disability. Candidate must commit to work 5 out of 6 weekends: Rate of pay is based on experience plus 50% with no benefits or 30% if employee elects benefits.
Will need to have BCLS, ACLS, PALS certification.

Primary Function and Relationship to Total Organization:
Provides direct and/or indirect nursing care for individual patients. Communicates with and on behalf of the patients and coordinates patient care with the interdisciplinary team. Organizes those aspects of nursing care for which she/he is accountable for.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assesses each patient on admission and determines appropriate nursing diagnosis.
2. Develops, implements, and keeps current an individualized nursing plan of care.
3. Participates in the daily interdisciplinary team meeting to promote an integrated health care plan.
4. Evaluates patient responses to nursing interventions and documents appropriately.
5. Prioritizes, plans, and organizes the delivery of standard nursing care in order to use time and resources effectively and efficiently.
6. Delegates aspects of care to peers and ancillary nursing personnel, consistent with their levels of education and expertise in order to meet patient needs.
7. Maintains accountability for own care and care delegated to others to assure adherence to ethical and legal standards.
8. Recognizes changes in patient condition and notifies physician.
9. Plans, promotes and participates in patient education and rehabilitation.
10. Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
11. Participates in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, quality improvement activities, standards development and review, hospital/nursing committees and other related activities.
12. Complies with hospital and nursing service policies.
13. Assists in the orientation and development of nursing personnel and students.
14. Demonstrates willingness to support staffing and scheduling needs.
15. Performs functions other than described above due to extenuating circumstances.
16. Trauma Alert Duties: Reports to primary ED nurse. Obtains supplies and assists with procedures and performs other tasks as directed by the primary nurse.
17. Maintains skills for computerization of documentation and medication delivery.

Personal Specifications:
Experience:
Following a formal orientation, proficiency in the assigned clinical area is expected within three months.
Education:
Graduate of a state approved nursing program. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa. Successful completion of BCLS within 3 months of employment and ACLS and PALS within the first year of employment.
