We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team and assist with surgical procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for prepping patients for surgery, providing assistance during the procedure, and monitoring the patient's condition during and after the surgery. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of medical terminology, excellent communication skills, and a passion for providing quality care to patients.
Responsibilities:
As an Operating Room Nurse, your role is crucial in ensuring a sterile and safe environment for surgical procedures. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Must be licenced for the state of Virginia
- Must have OR experience
- Must have circulating experience
- PRN or Full-time positions available
- Must at least 2 years experience
- Plastics experience is a plus
- Preparing the Operating Room: You will be responsible for setting up and organizing the surgical suite prior to procedures. This includes arranging surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies required for the surgery.
- Sterilization and Maintenance: You will follow strict protocols to sterilize surgical instruments and equipment. This involves cleaning, inspecting, and assembling instruments, as well as maintaining inventory and ensuring their proper functionality.
- Assisting with Patient Preparation: You will help prepare patients for surgery, which may include positioning them correctly on the operating table, draping them with sterile coverings, and ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Handing Instruments to Surgeons: During surgery, you will anticipate the needs of the surgical team by providing sterile instruments, supplies, and other necessary items promptly and accurately. This requires a thorough knowledge of surgical procedures and instruments.
- Maintaining Sterile Environment: Your role is critical in maintaining a sterile field throughout the surgery. This involves strict adherence to aseptic techniques, ensuring proper gowning and gloving, and monitoring the activities in the operating room to prevent contamination.
- Managing Specimens: You may assist in the collection, labeling, and transfer of specimens for laboratory analysis during surgical procedures. It is essential to follow protocols and ensure accurate documentation and tracking of specimens.
- Collaborating with the Surgical Team: You will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team to ensure smooth operations. Effective communication and teamwork are vital to provide optimal patient care.
- Post-Procedure Cleanup: After surgery, you will assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room, disposing of waste materials, and ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials according to established protocols.
- Compliance and Safety: You will adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations, safety protocols, and infection control guidelines to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and yourself.
- Monitor, record, and communicate changes in patient's condition and respond as appropriate to the needs of the patient and family.
- Provide care for patients in medical-surgical units, clinics, and outpatient settings.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Assess patient's condition and provide appropriate care.
- Assist physicians during medical procedures and surgeries.
- Educate patients on their conditions and treatments.
