Location: New Brunswick, NJ
Duration: Part-Time/ Full Time, Day - 36.
Rate: $42/hr - 74/hr

A Registered Nurse (RN) working in a Telemetry Float Pool is part of a specialized nursing team that provides care to patients requiring telemetry monitoring across various units within a hospital. Telemetry nurses monitor patients' vital signs, particularly their heart rhythm and rate, using advanced technology to detect and respond to any cardiac abnormalities. Key Responsibilities:
Telemetry Monitoring: Utilize telemetry equipment to continuously monitor and interpret patients' cardiac rhythms. Identify any abnormalities or changes in heart rate and rhythm promptly.
Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' cardiac status, including monitoring vital signs, assessing signs and symptoms of cardiac issues, and identifying potential complications.
Intervention and Treatment: Implement appropriate nursing interventions in response to changes in telemetry readings or other cardiac-related issues. Administer medications, perform cardiac procedures, and collaborate with physicians to ensure timely and effective care.
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about telemetry monitoring, cardiac conditions, and self-care. Provide information on lifestyle modifications, medications, and signs of potential complications.
Float Pool Flexibility: Be adaptable to working in different units within the hospital as part of a Float Pool. This may involve moving between various telemetry units or even different departments based on staffing needs.
Emergency Response: Respond effectively to cardiac emergencies and code situations. Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications as necessary.
Qualifications:
- An active, valid NJ Registered Nurse license is required.
- BSN required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
- ACLS required.
- 2-3 years of telemetry or medical-surgical experience preferred.
