This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The Hybrid RN will be expected to work in Same day Unit (SDU) and will help to cover the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
Duties include but not limited to: PACU (Phase 1 recovery) Pre-op
- Assist Acute Pain Service with regional anesthesia procedures.
- Assume care from OR staff for first patients of the day.
- Manage unstable preoperative patients from other areas of the hospital.
- Set up ECT therapy, Cardioversion, TEE, Blood Patch, and Bone Marrow biopsy patients
Post-op
- Provide Moderate sedation as needed.
- EKG rhythm analysis
- Hemodynamics
- Monitor circulatory function: vital signs monitored at least every 15 minutes x1 hour or until stable, then every 30 minutes x 2 hours and then every 1 hour until patient is discharged from PACU
- Monitor respiratory function, insert or remove adjunct airways.
- Level of consciousness, neurological assessment
- Effective pain and comfort management
- Monitor surgical site for complications
- Monitor Normothermia
- Assess and treat nausea and vomiting
- Administer medication as ordered, document results
- Monitor for "POUR" Post-Operative Urinary Retention
- Perform all phlebotomy on patients
SDU (Phase II Recovery) OEC/Diagnostics
- Perform all phlebotomy on patients
- Perform EKG & rhythm analysis
- Collect urine specimens
- Provide pre-op education
Pre-op
- Assist patients to prepare for surgery
- Pre-op vitals and assessments
- Start IV's
- Give pre-op medication
Post-op
- Vital signs monitored at least every 15 minutes
- Level of consciousness, neurological assessment
- Effective pain and comfort management
- Monitor surgical site for complications
- Give post-operative medications
- Assess and treat nausea and vomiting
- Provide nutrition
- Post-operative instructions
- 24hr post-operative calls
Other duties
- Administer blood product transfusions
- Assist with prostate clinic
- Assist with lumbar punctures.
- Chart Checks
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday. Two shifts available: 5:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. OR 11:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m.

Preferred Experience:
- 1-2 years of inpatient medical, surgical, or telemetry experience.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and able to administer Moderate Sedation.
