- The Wound Care RN will assess and determine a plan of treatment within 24-72 hours of physician consult.
- Assesses patient’s condition by reviewing all systems, the patient’s health records and/or history.
- Develop a treatment plan according to current evidence-based practice and explain rationale in the electronic charting
- Institute preventive measures and monitor results of care delivered.
- Consult with other members of the health care team in the management of acute and chronic wounds.
- Provide demonstrations/education on dressing techniques, principals of aseptic technique and pressure injury prevention to patient and/or nursing staff.
- Monitor nutritional deficiencies that will affect or impede wound healing.
- All levels of ostomy care, planning, and teaching
- Application of drainage collection devices and pouches
- Any other wound related tasks/procedures deemed necessary by medical staff that fall within the scope of Wound Care RN
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
- Current License as RN in the State of Texas
- CPR and ACLS (recommended) certified by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Position requires fluency in English language to function in job environment appropriately
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Wound Care nurse is preferred
- Wound Care Certification preferred: Wound Ostomy Certified Nurse (WOCN), Wound Care Certified Nurse(WCC) Skin Wound Ostomy Certified Nurse (SWOC)
