• 8 - 13 week employment contracts for full time days, evenings and overnights, Lambertville, New Jersey

CFG provides 24/7 medical and mental health services in county jails across New Jersey and up into New York.  Our teams are comprised of CFG employed  Medical Directors, Staff Physicians, Psychologists, NPs/PAs, RNs, LPNs, MAs, Social Workers, etc,

 

Correctional Healthcare nursing is a challenging field which is part of a correctional healthcare delivery system which aspires to address needs of the chronically underserved local community. County Jails are where people are sent when they are first arrested. Most people in county jails have not been convicted of a crime, and a high percentage of the population are underserved, they are poor, disenfranchised, and mentally ill or have a substance use disorder.  Many do not belong in jails but are there because presently there are no better alternatives.

 

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers care to inmate patients utilizing the nursing assessment protocols in assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established philosophy. RNs collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. RNs effectively interact with patients, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing.

All care provided by is in accordance with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards of care, NJ 10-A, American Correctional Association (ACA) and Performance Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS) as appropriate.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY ROLES:

• Performs and documents medical evaluations, assessments and treatments
• Collaborates with primary care providers and other health care providers to ensure continuity
• Provides inmate patient education and/or discharge planning.
• Promotes a therapeutic environment to ensure inmates are treated in a professional, ethical and tactful manner.

 

Qualifications

• A current CPR/BLS card with demonstrated and cognitive skills is required.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice as Registered Nurse in the state the facility is located (maintain a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times)

MINIMUM EDUCATION

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE

• At least one year of RN experience.
• Previous correctional health care environment preferred.

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS

• Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests.
• Must meet security clearance requirements for all applicable worksites

PHYSICAL DEMANDS   

• May regularly be required to stand, sit, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, or stretch, for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to communicate and understand written and verbal communication.
• The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
