Job Description
This is a non-merit position with the Department of Health & Human Services - Glenwood Resource Center . Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section.
Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the multidisciplinary team of Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals (QIDPs) at the Glenwood Resource Center (GRC).
GRC staff enjoy an exceptional workplace where mutual respect and support are part of the culture. You'll discover a rewarding environment with a team of dedicated professionals treating adults, adolescents, and children with intellectual disabilities. The QIDPs are integral to the successful treatment of our clients, providing care in tandem with all care providers - Psychologists, Physicians, Nurses, Therapists, Pharmacists, Dentists, Dietitians, and Social Workers - to assure the best outcomes.
Nursing at GRC is pivotal to the success of patient treatment. Our Registered Nurses are skilled at assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention, with the ability to perform nursing procedures, including emergency care, within the scope of practice.
The effective RN will have the ability to communicate and collaborate with QIDP members, receive and transcribe physician orders, and report and document client conditions, care and treatments provided, nursing interventions implemented, and response to interventions.
Additionally, GRC RNs:
  • Provide functional clinical supervision and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and other unlicensed assistive personnel (i.e., certified medication aides and direct support staff).
  • Have oversight for the administration of medications.
  • Engage and implement performance improvement measures.
  • Collect and report data.
  • Participate in the nursing peer review process.

Among other training offerings, the RN will complete Mandatory Reporter of Dependent Adult and Child Abuse trainings as required by Iowa Code.
At GRC, we strive to provide holistic treatment utilizing the multidisciplinary model in an integrated approach to service provision. A person-centered approach is our goal in assisting each individual. We rely on our professionals to share their knowledge and ideas and be instrumental in helping GRC be the right choice for Iowans in need of our services. We are committed to helping talented professionals continue to grow by offering benefits such as:
  • Comprehensive Orientation
  • Maintenance of Licensure and Mandatory Certifications
  • People-Centered Principles
  • Professional Development
  • Team Environment
Located in southwest Iowa, GRC provides residential services for individuals who have struggled to be successful in the community, gives in-home support for those who transition to the community, and assists community-based providers by providing assessments, training, and other technical support. The goal of all GRC services is to help individuals be successful in their communities.
If you enjoy working as part of an interdisciplinary team, helping to develop person-centered Individual Support Plans, while also helping individuals stabilize and return to their community of preference then this is a wonderful opportunity to consider.
Glenwood Highlights

A small rural community with strong ties to the Council Bluffs and Omaha metropolitan area, Glenwood is a dynamic and welcoming place to live and work. This unique feature is up to 15 miles wide and 220 miles long. Bridging rural and metropolitan areas, the hills have something for everyone. Home of the Mills County Historical Museum, seven historical buildings with the largest display of Prehistoric Native American Artifacts in the state of Iowa are located here.
